New 'Coffee & Dessert Expert' Helps Operators Increase Sales

CHICAGO (May 18, 2007) – Building on the success of its Douwe Egberts One Touch Coffee System, Sara Lee Foodservice is introducing three beverage solutions and showcasing its breadth of great tasting, on-trend products for every daypart at the 2007 National Restaurant Association (NRA) Show (booth #1047). This year, Sara Lee Foodservice is focusing on four key trends: health and wellness, flavors, indulgence and convenience.

Sara Lee Foodservice will highlight products in the following three categories:

Beverage

      • Douwe Egberts One-Touch Flavor Station, a new, "next generation" Douwe Egberts brewer, offers brewed, flavored coffee beverages such as cappuccinos and lattes with real, coffee-house taste in up to 12 different flavors (including amaretto, Irish cream, hazelnut, caramel and sugar-free vanilla) and more than 50 potential beverage combinations.
      • Caffiato, a new iced specialty beverage with one-touch ease, available in original iced coffee, mocha iced coffee, French vanilla iced coffee and chai tea latte, made with Douwe Egberts 100% Colombian coffee and real dairy.
      • Sara Lee Coffee & Dessert Expert, a new, slide-rule type tool, to help operators match optimal coffee and dessert pairings to enhance their customers’ overall dining experience.
      • Superior Hot Breakfast Smoothies, an innovative, new hot breakfast drink packed with nutrition to jump-start the day; available in great-tasting brown sugar cinnamon and mixed berry.
      • Pickwick Specialty Teas offer hot and cold beverage solutions through a single, branded premium tea available in 20 hot blends and 10 iced blends including popular flavors such as rooibos and white tea.
      • Made from black tea, fruit flavors and a special energy blend of vitamins and herbs, Pickwick Infusia Energy Iced Tea is available in a variety of flavors including classic, classic unsweetened, peach mango and blueberry pomegranate.

Bakery

      • A new platform of pies and cakes, Sara Lee Nostalgic Desserts, in flavors such as Cookie Dough Cream Pie, Seven Layer Pie, Taffy Apple Hi Pie and Hershey’s® Chocolate Layer Cake, respond to consumers’ cravings for classic treats from decades past.
      • New, Sugar Added Hi Pies in varieties including Apple, Cherry, Peach and Fruits of the Forest, provide the same great taste without the added sugar.
      • Restaurant Reserve cheesecakes, the only cheesecakes recognized with a seal of approval from the American Culinary Federation, North America’s premier professional chef’s organization.

Protein

      • Hillshire Farm introduces three new, on-trend flavors of its innovative split sausage product: andouille, spicy sage and Italian. In addition to the original Hillshire Farm Lickety Split® smoked sausage, these flavors add excitement to any breakfast or lunch offering.
      • State Fair whole grain mini corn dogs respond to the trend of more whole grains in products.
      • Hillshire Farm sliced meats: The Thin Sliced Portion Pillow Pack offers thinly sliced Hillshire Farm natural juice ham, smoked turkey and roast beef in a fluff pack designed for operators to build bigger sandwiches with smaller portions than traditionally stacked products.
      • Hillshire Farm sliced whole muscle beef, available in two-pound bulk stack packs of roast beef, corned beef and pastrami, delivers premium quality, perfectly pre-sliced beef. This product provides operational ease, exceptional quality, outstanding flavor, low labor costs and virtually no waste.
